Take Profit Trader rules, from Test to PRO
Take Profit Trader's Test has no daily loss limit and an end-of-day trailing drawdown that stops at your starting balance. You need 3 trading days and a best day under 50% of your profit. Pass, and the PRO account switches to an intraday trailing drawdown, lets you withdraw from day one, but makes you build a buffer first.

Test numbers by size
| 25K | 50K | 75K | 100K | 150K | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Target | $1,500 | $3,000 | $4,500 | $6,000 | $9,000 |
| EOD drawdown | $1,500 | $2,000 | $2,500 | $3,000 | $4,500 |
| Max contracts | 3 | 6 | 9 | 12 | 15 |
| Balance needed to withdraw on PRO | $26,500 | $52,000 | $77,500 | $103,000 | $154,500 |
The 25K drawdown is 6% of the account, while the 100K is 3%. That makes the small account the most forgiving in ratio. Test pricing is monthly and promotional, and PRO activation was listed at a one-time $130; check the current price on the firm's site.
The 50% rule and the buffer
Test. You make $1,800 on day 1, then $700 and $500. Total $3,000, target hit, but the best day is 60% of profit. It does not fail you: the goal rises until the best day is under half. You now need more than $3,600 in total.
PRO. You start at $50,000 with a $2,000 intraday trailing drawdown. Before you can withdraw without closing the account, your balance must reach the buffer, starting balance plus the drawdown: $52,000. Profit above $52,000 can come out from day one, daily, with no minimum days.
Withdraw while still inside the buffer and the account closes, with that profit paid at 50% if you traded 60 trading days or fewer, 80% if more.
Drawdown in each stage
- Test: end-of-day trailing, but the breach check runs in real time, open losses included. It stops trailing at your starting balance.
- PRO: intraday trailing, open profit included. Same dollar amount as the Test. Also stops at starting balance.
- PRO+: end-of-day drawdown, no buffer, 90/10 split.
News, hours and automation
- No overnight: the platform auto-closes at 4:55 PM ET; the trading day runs 6 PM to 5 PM ET.
- News on PRO: be flat, with no orders, from 1 minute before to 1 minute after FOMC (2:00 PM ET), NFP (8:30 AM ET) and CPI. We found no news restriction on the Test.
- Bots: prohibited on PRO; trades must be manual. Counter positions are banned on every account.
- Activity: at least 1 traded day per week on PRO. Up to 5 funded accounts.
We could not confirm the copy-trading policy or whether bots are allowed in the Test, so check the firm's current rules.
Where TPT traders slip
PRO trails intraday. Letting a winner run to +$1,000 open and closing it at +$200 costs $800 of drawdown room on PRO that it would not cost on the Test.
It looks like a payout. It is actually closing the account at a reduced split.
A resting order or open position at 8:30 AM ET on NFP day breaks the PRO news rule.
Sizing for Test and then PRO
Plan two sizing regimes. In the Test, the drawdown trails end of day, so you can let a winner run within the session. On PRO the trail is intraday, so tighten your management: take partial profit at 1R and trail the rest, so an open high is never far above what you bank.
On a 50K, $200 risk per trade gives ten losses of drawdown room. Keep any single day under $1,400 in the Test so the 50% rule never moves your target. On PRO, plan your first withdrawal for when the balance clears $52,000, not before.
There is no daily loss limit, so set your own: stop after three losses or $600, whichever comes first.
Track Take Profit Trader in the RB journal
The journal has presets for each Take Profit Trader size.

- Add a prop account in Risk Manager and choose Take Profit Trader, Test / PRO at your size.
- Futures platforms do not run the RBSync EA, so import your fills from a CSV export of your platform (the journal reads NinjaTrader and Tradovate exports, and the generic CSV mapper handles others).
- In the Test, check your best day against half of total profit after every session.
- On PRO, set your buffer level as a note and do not request until the balance is above it.
- The journal trails on live equity, which matches PRO and is stricter than the Test.
Questions traders ask about Take Profit Trader
Does Take Profit Trader have a daily loss limit?
No. It was removed from the Test and PRO accounts. Only PRO+ Development accounts carry a soft daily limit.
What is the Take Profit Trader consistency rule?
In the Test only, your best day must be under 50% of total net profit. Going over does not fail you; your goal rises until the best day is under half.
When can I withdraw from a PRO account?
From day one, once your balance is above the buffer of starting balance plus the drawdown, for example $52,000 on a 50K.
