Blue Guardian rules and the Guardian Shield
Blue Guardian's 2 Step Standard asks for 8% then 4%, with a 4% daily loss and a static 8% overall drawdown. The daily line is reset at 5pm EST from the higher of your balance or equity, minus 4% of the initial balance. Once funded, a feature called Guardian Shield closes trades automatically at a 2% floating loss, and it changes how you should size.

The 5pm reset, worked through
At the 5pm EST reset your balance is $99,500 but you hold a trade up $2,500, so equity is $102,000. Blue Guardian takes the higher figure, $102,000, and subtracts 4% of the initial balance, $4,000. Tomorrow's line is $98,000.
If that open trade then reverses to break-even, you are at $99,500 with only $1,500 of daily room. Open profit at the reset raises the bar.
The overall floor is a fixed $92,000. A 1% trader ($1,000 per trade) has four full stops of daily room on a clean reset.
Guardian Shield on funded accounts
On funded 2-step accounts, Guardian Shield closes open trades automatically when floating loss reaches 2% (1% on instant accounts). It is a soft breach, but the consequences step up: the first one drops your split to 50%, the second breaches the account permanently.
In practice this caps your open risk at under 2% at any moment. Two trades at 1% risk each, both stopped together, would trigger it. Size so that all open trades together stay well under 2%.
Other rules
- Profitable days: 3 days of at least 0.5% for accounts bought from 20 August; 5 for earlier accounts. Days need not be in a row.
- News: allowed in the challenge. Funded, no opening or closing within 5 minutes of red-folder news or FOMC; profits may be removed.
- Weekends and overnight: no restrictions on any account type.
- EAs: allowed if they run your own strategy.
- Copy trading: only between accounts you legally own.
- Minimum hold: 2 minutes; shorter trades may be treated as tick scalping.
Payouts and scaling
Funded accounts pay 85% every 14 days (a 7-day add-on exists; Blue Guardian's homepage also advertises 7-day payouts), processed within 24 business hours, from $100 by crypto. You need your minimum days, a balance above the start, and all positions closed. Scaling adds 30% of the initial balance after 12% profit within 3 months. Blue Guardian's own page gives two different maximums, so check the current cap. Prices were not confirmed for this plan, so check them on Blue Guardian's site.
How Blue Guardian traders slip
Guardian Shield sees combined floating loss. Two 1% trades going wrong together cost you half your split.
The reset uses the higher of balance and equity. A winner held over the reset raises tomorrow's line.
Fast exits that suit your style may be flagged as tick scalping here.
A risk plan that fits Guardian Shield
Plan the funded account before you pass, because Guardian Shield changes the maths. On $100,000 funded, 2% floating loss is $2,000. If your normal risk is 0.5% per trade, you can hold up to three positions at once ($1,500) and still have a gap before the shield triggers.
In the challenge, the 4% daily gives $4,000 of room. A daily stop at $2,000 keeps you inside half of it. At 0.5% risk and 2R winners, Phase 1's 8% is eight net winners and Phase 2's 4% is four.
Make each of your 3 profitable days count with at least $500 closed, then you are free to pass whenever the target lands.
