Goat Funded Trader rules: the 2-Step Standard

RB Trading Last checked: 8 October 2026 4 min read

Goat Funded Trader's most popular evaluation, the 2-Step Standard, asks for 10% then 5%, with a 5% daily drawdown and a static 10% maximum loss, and no consistency rule in any phase. You need 3 profitable days per step. The daily line is set at 5:00 PM EST from the higher of balance or equity, minus 5%.

Goat sells a dozen models, including a 2 Step GOAT version with 8% and 6% targets and a 4% daily. Check which one you hold.

The daily line, in numbers

Worked example: $100,000 2-Step Standard

At 5:00 PM EST your equity is $104,000. Five percent of that is $5,200, so tomorrow's floor is $98,800. The static floor is $90,000.

Profitable days need at least 0.5% of initial balance, $500, net of fees, with at least one position closed. A trader risking 1% ($1,000) for 2R can make a qualifying day with one winner, and has five stops of daily room.

The news cap is easy to miss: a trade opened or closed within 5 minutes of red-folder news can make at most 1% of the initial balance, $1,000. A $2,400 news winner is trimmed to $1,000, with no breach.

Where Goat traders get caught

One huge funded day

Above $3,000 a day is deducted. Risk sized for a big account can make profit you do not keep.

Holding open profit through 5 PM EST

The reset uses the higher of balance or equity, so open profit raises the next floor.

Friday-to-Monday gap trades

Profit from those trades is removed on funded accounts.

A plan for Goat's funded caps

Plan the funded stage around its caps. On $100,000, the first two payouts are capped at $6,000 each and any day above $3,000 is trimmed. A trader risking 0.5% ($500) per trade with 2R winners makes $1,000 per winner, so three winners in a day already brushes the daily cap.

In the evaluation, the 5% daily gives $5,000 of room. Keep each day inside $2,000 and make each of your 3 profitable days at least $500 closed. Phase 1's 10% then needs ten net winners.

Skip news entries unless you are happy with a $1,000 cap on the trade.

Track Goat in the RB journal

There is no Goat preset yet, so use Custom.

The consistency rule check: best day as a share of total profit, and what it takes to unlock the payout (demo account).
  1. In Risk Manager, add a prop account and pick Custom. Set targets 10% and 5%, daily 5%, total 10%, drawdown type static.
  2. Sync MT4 or MT5 live through the RBSync EA (cTrader is supported too), or import a CSV statement.
  3. Use the calendar to count profitable days of $500 or more on a $100K.
  4. Tag news trades so you can see when the 1% cap trimmed a winner.
  5. Once funded, track daily P&L against the $3,000 cap.

Questions traders ask about Goat Funded Trader

Does Goat Funded Trader have a consistency rule?

Not on the 2-Step Standard, in any phase.

How is the Goat daily drawdown calculated?

At 5:00 PM EST, Goat takes the higher of your balance or equity and subtracts 5% to set the next day's floor. Breaching it is a hard breach.

Is news trading allowed at Goat Funded Trader?

Yes, but any trade opened or closed within 5 minutes of red-folder news can make at most 1% of the initial balance. The rest is removed.
