Instant Funding rules for the Two-Phase challenge
Despite the name, Instant Funding (instantfunding.com) sells evaluations too, and its Two-Phase challenge is the one most traders compare. It asks for 8% then 5%, with a 5% daily loss measured from the higher of balance or equity at the 17:00 EST rollover and a static 10% maximum loss. The catch arrives at payout time: a 40% best-day rule and a per-idea risk cap.
Do not confuse it with other firms' "instant funding" products, which have different rules.
- Profit target
- 8% (Phase 1), 5% (Phase 2)
- Daily loss
- 5% of the higher of balance or equity at 17:00 EST
- Max loss
- 10% of starting balance, static
- Minimum days
- 3 per phase
- Time limit
- None (60 days with no trades closes the account)
- Payout rule
- Best day no more than 40% of profit
- Leverage
- Up to 1:100 FX
- Split
- 80%, up to 90%
The rollover in numbers
Instant Funding's own example: at $10,500 equity the daily limit is $525. Scale that to $100,000: if equity at 17:00 EST is $104,000, the day's limit is $5,200 and the line sits at $98,800. The static floor is $90,000.
Once funded, you may not risk or lose more than half of the starting daily drawdown on one trade idea: on $100,000, $2,500. Re-entering within 10 minutes counts as the same idea. A 1% trader is well inside that; a trader who adds to a loser is not.
Payout conditions
- On demand: no fixed first-payout date. You need net profit of at least 1.5% of the starting balance (or $25, whichever is larger) and all trades closed.
- 40% best day: your best day may be no more than 40% of total profit. With a $2,000 best day, you need $5,000 of profit to request.
- Split: 80%, rising to 90% after a 10% overall gain with your first trade at least 90 days ago, or with an add-on.
- Scaling: a 10% gain over 90 days adds 25% of the starting balance, up to double the original. Combined starting balance across your accounts is capped at $1,000,000.
Trading rules
- News: no restriction in the challenge. On funded accounts, trades within 4 minutes before or after a major release are restricted unless you buy the add-on.
- Weekends: allowed in both phases; funded accounts need an add-on.
- EAs: public third-party EAs are restricted; your own are allowed.
- Copy trading: between your own accounts only, including your accounts at other firms.
- Lot limits: maximum lot sizes apply per account size, and breaking them resets the account.
Prices were not shown on the day we checked, and Instant Funding's homepage lists a 12% drawdown option as an add-on. Check both on the firm's site.
Where Instant Funding traders slip
Adding to a loser within 10 minutes is still one idea. Past $2,500 on $100K, it breaks the per-idea rule.
The 40% rule holds your request until the rest of your profit catches up.
Without the add-on, funded accounts cannot hold over the weekend.
Planning for the payout rules
The challenge itself is simple: on $100,000, risk 0.5% ($500) per trade, keep days inside $2,000, and the 8% target is eight 2R winners. The planning that matters is for the funded account.
Keep each funded trade idea at 1% or less, $1,000, far inside the $2,500 per-idea cap. Do not re-enter the same idea within 10 minutes of a stop. And watch your best day: to request with a $1,500 best day, you need $3,750 of total profit.
Request on demand once you clear 1.5% net profit and the 40% best-day rule together.
