Maven Trading rules for the Standard 2-Step

RB Trading Last checked: 8 October 2026 4 min read

Maven's Standard 2-Step is one of the cheaper challenges around ($396 for $100K on sale). It asks for 8% then 5%, allows a 4% daily loss measured from the higher of equity or balance at 00:00 UTC, and holds a static 8% overall floor. Two rules set Maven apart: EAs are banned on every platform, and you cannot open or close trades 2 minutes either side of red-folder news.

A day of trading at Maven

Worked example: $100,000 Standard 2-Step

At 00:00 UTC your balance is $103,000 and equity is the same. Four percent of that is about $4,120, giving a line near $98,880. The static floor is $92,000.

A 1% trader ($1,000 per trade) has four full stops of daily room. A profitable day needs at least 0.5%, $500. You need 3 of them in each phase, and 3 more once funded before your first withdrawal.

Maven's FAQ describes the daily figure as 4% based on the higher of equity or balance at 00:00 UTC; check your dashboard for whether the 4% applies to that figure or to the starting balance.

Rules that end Maven accounts

Payouts and scaling

You can request a withdrawal every 10 business days after your first funded trade, at 80%, capped at $10,000 per rolling 30 days. The fee is refunded on the third withdrawal. Earn 10% over 4 months, with a payout in each month, and the account grows 25%, up to $1,000,000. The withdrawal cap does not scale with it.

How traders trip at Maven

A stop or target filling at the release

A resting order that fills inside the 2-minute window counts as closing a trade. Pull orders before red-folder events.

Bringing an EA from another firm

Maven bans all EAs. Even a trade-management script is not allowed.

Expecting big withdrawals after scaling

The $10,000 per 30 days cap stays the same as the account grows.

A Maven plan for 4% daily room

With a 4% daily and an 8% total, two bad days can end a Maven account. On $100,000, risk 0.5% ($500) per trade and stop at $1,500 a day. That is three losses and less than half the daily room.

Phase 1's 8% then needs eight 2R winners net; Phase 2's 5% needs five. Plan at least three days with $500 or more closed in each phase, and three more once funded before you withdraw.

Write the red-folder times for the week into your journal on Monday. With no EAs allowed, you are the only thing between a resting order and the 2-minute window.

Track Maven in the RB journal

There is no Maven preset yet, so use Custom.

  3. Count profitable days of 0.5% or more in the calendar view, phase by phase.

  5. Log withdrawals against the $10,000 rolling cap.
