Measured on broker pages, TradingView broker feeds and live MetaTrader servers. MetaTrader matches symbol names exactly, including case, so AUS200 and AUS200m are two different symbols on the platform even though they are the same market.

What the underlying market is

Every name above tracks the S&P/ASX 200, the benchmark index of 200 large companies listed in Australia, priced in Australian dollars.

Cash or futures?

A cash AUS200 CFD tracks the cash ASX 200 in Sydney exchange hours and follows the future outside them.

The trap to watch for

ASX on its own is also a company. ASX Ltd, the exchange operator, is itself listed, so a bare "ASX" can be the share rather than the index. IG's feed uses ASX for the index; most brokers use AUS200.

How the RB Trading Pro Journal handles it

The RB Trading Pro Journal reads AUS200, AU200, ASX200, SPI200, AUS200.cash and the rest as the ASX 200 and prices it live at the cash index level. A bare ASX is only read as the index when the trade is marked as an index.

Trades arrive by hand, by file import, or live from MT4 and MT5 and cTrader, in whatever spelling your broker uses. You never rename a symbol to get a live price or a correct R.

Journal your AUS200 trades under any name

Log trades by hand, import a file, or live-sync MetaTrader and cTrader. The Journal recognises your broker's spelling and prices open trades live.

How this page was built: spellings come from brokers' and prop firms' own help pages and notices, from the broker feeds on TradingView, and from a public dataset of 13,740 symbol names read from 241 live MetaTrader 4 and 5 servers (metatraderVPS/metatrader-broker-symbols, CC BY 4.0). A broker is named only where one of those sources shows it. Brokers rename symbols from time to time, so check your own platform's symbol list if a name here does not match.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is AUS200 the same as ASX200?

Yes. AUS200, AU200, ASX200, SPI200, ASX, AUSSIE200 and AU200AUD all track the S&P/ASX 200. Eightcap uses ASX200, Vantage SPI200, Capital.com AU200 and most others AUS200.

Is AUS200 cash or futures?

The plain AUS200 is usually a cash CFD on the ASX 200, which follows the future outside Sydney exchange hours.

What does AUS200.cash mean?

It is FTMO's name for its cash ASX 200 CFD, priced from the cash index rather than from a dated future. XM writes the same idea as AUS200Cash.

Why is ASX not always the index?

ASX is also the ticker of ASX Ltd, the company that runs the exchange. A journal has to know whether the trade is an index or a share before it reads a bare ASX.
