USOIL, WTI, XTIUSD
which oil is your broker quoting?

USOIL, WTI, XTIUSD, USOUSD, SpotCrude, USCRUDEOIL and WTICOUSD are all WTI crude oil, the US oil benchmark. Even names with "spot" or "cash" in them are priced from oil futures. UKOIL, BRENT and XBRUSD are a different market: Brent crude.

Measured on broker pages, TradingView broker feeds and live MetaTrader servers. MetaTrader matches symbol names exactly, including case, so USOIL and USOILm are two different symbols on the platform even though they are the same market.

What the underlying market is

WTI (West Texas Intermediate) is the US crude oil benchmark, traded as the NYMEX CL future. Brent, the other benchmark, is a separate market with its own price.

Cash or futures?

Oil CFDs are priced from futures at essentially every broker, even when the name says spot or cash. Pepperstone states that its rolling cash energies, SpotCrude, SpotBrent and NatGas, are priced from the front-month futures contract. "Spot" here means the CFD rolls for you and has no expiry, not that it tracks a physical spot price.

The trap to watch for

USOIL and UKOIL are different oil. USOIL is WTI; UKOIL is Brent. They trade at different prices, so a Brent trade journaled against a WTI chart will look wrong on every fill.

How the RB Trading Pro Journal handles it

The RB Trading Pro Journal reads USOIL, WTI, XTIUSD, USOUSD, SpotCrude, USOIL.cash and the rest as WTI crude, and prices it live from the front-month WTI future, the same source broker oil CFDs are built on. Brent names are read as Brent.

Trades arrive by hand, by file import, or live from MT4 and MT5 and cTrader, in whatever spelling your broker uses. You never rename a symbol to get a live price or a correct R.

How this page was built: spellings come from brokers' and prop firms' own help pages and notices, from the broker feeds on TradingView, and from a public dataset of 13,740 symbol names read from 241 live MetaTrader 4 and 5 servers (metatraderVPS/metatrader-broker-symbols, CC BY 4.0). A broker is named only where one of those sources shows it. Brokers rename symbols from time to time, so check your own platform's symbol list if a name here does not match.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is USOIL the same as WTI and XTIUSD?

Yes. USOIL, WTI, XTIUSD, USOUSD, SpotCrude, USCRUDEOIL and WTICOUSD are all WTI crude oil. IC Markets uses XTIUSD for spot and WTI for futures, Vantage and Eightcap use USOUSD, Pepperstone uses SpotCrude.

Is USOIL spot or futures?

Broker oil CFDs are priced from futures even when called spot or cash. Pepperstone states its SpotCrude is priced from the front-month futures contract. The word spot means the CFD rolls automatically and has no expiry.

What is the difference between USOIL and UKOIL?

USOIL is WTI crude, the US benchmark traded as the NYMEX CL future. UKOIL is Brent crude, the other global benchmark. They are different markets with different prices.

What is SpotCrude?

SpotCrude is Pepperstone's name for its rolling WTI crude CFD. It was previously called XTIUSD. Pepperstone renamed its Brent and natural gas CFDs to SpotBrent and NatGas at the same time.
